I’m proud to be serving as Interim Director here at the MSU Writing Center. I have worked as a tutor, teacher, and administrator at MSU since 2004 and have been part of the leadership team at the Writing Center since 2012. I’m a passionate advocate for our peer tutoring program and for our Writing Center’s ability to support writing and writers across MSU.
My thinking about writing was strongly shaped by the values of the creative writing workshop. As an MFA student and a writing teacher, I learned the power of peer collaboration, reciprocal feedback, and individual voice. Now, after many years in the diverse, multidisciplinary space of the Writing Center, I continue to see peer-to-peer mentorship, community, and agency as vital elements in the writing education of MSU students.
As Interim Director, I am committed to making sure our Writing Center remains a vital space of connection, growth, and support for students, faculty, and staff across campus. None of us is ever done learning to write, and I’m grateful I get to continue learning in the company of thoughtful, curious humans.

My Writing Center adventure began with an undergraduate peer writing tutor job, and I went on to work as Associate Director of the University of Utah Writing Center during graduate school. All Writing Centers are unique, and I am so impressed by how the MSU Writing Center has created a space for truly collaborative writing, learning, and knowledge-making.
I grew up in rural Montana but have studied and lived in Japan, Wales, Utah, Romania, Idaho, Northern Ireland, and Washington. I have taught a variety of literature and creative writing classes, and I’m partial to poetry and weird medieval romances.

What I love most about being part of the Writing Center team is the shared commitment to the mission, welcoming atmosphere and thought-provoking discussions that spontaneously occur on a daily basis.
My educational background is varied, with a B.S. in Outdoor Recreation from Southern Illinois University, a B.A. in Spanish from MSU, and an M.A. in TESOL from the SIT Graduate Institute. I have taught English and/or trained teachers of English in Vermont, South Africa, Connecticut, California, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, and Montana. At MSU, I also have the privilege of teaching CLS101.
