Welcome
Thank you for taking the time to visit the homepage of the President’s Commission on Substance Abuse Prevention (PCSAP).
PCSAP was established to serve the MSU community and provide expertise and advice to the president’s office on the subject of alcohol and substance abuse prevention.
The commission has a particular focus on reducing harm and improving the health and safety of Montana State University students and the MSU community. The commission began meeting in 2013 and included representation from the campus and Bozeman community. It was co-chaired by then-ASMSU President Kiah Abbey and Dean of Students Matt Caires.
The commission conducted a series of interviews, meetings with stakeholders and reviews of professional literature. Based upon its inquiry into this issue, the commission has issued a report with 10 recommendations intended to enhance the safety and wellbeing of student life culture with regard to high risk drinking and substance abuse.
This report was brought forward to University Council as a draft for public input. After this input phase, a final version of the recommendations will be completed and submitted to the president for consideration.
Feel free to read the history, background, findings and recommendations listed on the links located on the left side of the screen. If you have any feedback about the PCSAP report and recommendations, please email vpsuccess@montana.edu.
