Montana State University recognizes the significant role that social media plays in our overall communication strategy. When representing Montana State University on social media, you must follow the social media policy, practice integrity, and uphold the overall brand identity.

Step 1: How to Register Your MSU Social Media Account

MSU’s social media policy requires new and existing social media accounts to be reviewed by University Communications. You must fill out the form below to begin the registration process. Please note, you’ll need to fill out the form once for each account you need to register.

Step 2: How to Grant University Communications Access

To help protect the security of your MSU social media account and ensure there’s always a backup way to access your accounts should something go wrong, MSU requires that you share your login credentials and/or add University Communications staff as co-administrators of your social MSU media accounts.

For Facebook pages, University Communications will integrate your page into the university’s Meta Business Manager platform. Please follow these instructions for each of your Facebook pages.

For LinkedIn Business Pages that have “administrators,” follow these instructions to add University Communications as a co-administrator for your page.

For all other accounts that have usernames and passwords, such as X (Twitter), YouTube, and Instagram, follow the instructions to share those credentials with University Communications using MSU’s official Keeper Password Tool.

Important note: Do not share your personal Facebook or LinkedIn passwords via Keeper. For Facebook and LinkedIn pages, see the instructions above.
