Acknowledging Core Facilities
Acknowledgment of core facility services and instruments supported by Montana State University are required in publications and are a key performance indicator of a facility's research activity. When core facilities are applying for funding opportunities to support instrument upgrades, they are required to report publications that utilized core services to funding agencies. Acknowledging core facilities in your publications will help ensure that core facilities continue to be here to provide training, instrumentation, and support in the future.
Please include the following statement in your acknowledgments section:
Example: "This work used (service and/or instrument name) in the [name of the core facility] which is supported by [funding source] and Montana State University, [enter RRID number]."
Check on each core facility's page for a specific acknowledgment example, including funding sources.
What is a RRID number?
Research Resource Identifiers (RRIDs) are ID numbers assigned to help researchers cite key resources such as core facilities in literature to improve the transparency of research methods and improve citability of these resources. You can learn more about RRIDs here.
