With the additional challenges of COVID 19 and the need to provide time for faculty to integrate the newly approved MSU Core Qualities into their core courses, the assessment of “Effective Communicator” in 2020-21 focused on the WRIT 101 (W) and University Seminar (US) courses.

The US Directors and the First Year Writing Director both collected student artifacts from approximately 15% of the students enrolled in the Seminar and W courses in Fall 2020. These student artifacts were distributed to faculty for assessment using the rubric for “Effective Communicator.” The rubric was in the form of a Qualtrics survey which was filled out for each student artifact.
