Maysara Sheralieva
Maysara Sheralieva, from Tajikistan, is a 2016 alumna of the Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) program at Montana State University. After completing the program, Maysara shared a selection of her poems that capture her TEA experience in Bozeman.
Maysara has been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) for over 37 years in Panjakent, Tajikistan, a city on the Zeravshan River with a population of over 33,000 people.
The TEA program provides international teachers with an opportunity to enhance their teaching skills and increase their knowledge about the United States. The program is a six-week customized academic training that includes seminars on curriculum development, lesson planning, instructional technology, and new teaching methodologies. Fellows participate in a practicum in a U.S. secondary school, working closely with US teachers and students. The program provides cultural enrichment, mentoring, and support.
Selections of Mayasara Sheralieva's Poems
TEA and We
Teachers of the world,
Always we together.
We are teacher-leaders,
Often work together.
Refrain.
TEA, you and me,
One group and team.
TEA, they and we.
English word connects us,
From far and near lands.
For learning and teaching,
For better life on lands.
Friendship word connects us,
Against war and enemies.
For peace in the world,
Stand all the teachers.
We are teachers–leaders,
TEA is our teacher.
We teach people to learn,
A big family team.
We call all the teachers,
Be with us together.
For our better future,
Teach all kids together.
Refrain.
TEA, you and me,
One group and team.
TEA, they and we,
A big family team.

Bozeman Town
Bozeman a beautiful town,
Like my ancient Panjakent town.
Natural design, historical places,
They all look like my places.
Mountainous, springs and lakes,
They all like my land and lakes.
Green nature and fresh air,
Look like my nature and air.
Rivers, fields and pure water,
All the same as our pure water.
Rockies Museum is your proudness,
Clever children are your happiness.
Your people are polite and kind,
Ours ‘re also hospitable and kind.
I call you sister or brother towns,
Because you are like twin towns…. 09.28.2016
