Ski and Read Application
Join us for a weekend of outdoor recreation, book discussion and camaraderie. Ski and Read affords incoming students the opportunity to informally interact with their peers, Honors staff and Yellowstone National Park Service employees in the world's first national park. Engage in lively discussions on resource management issues, including park visitation, wolves and bison, and flood management. Students and Honors staff will stay in Gardiner, just outside the north entrance of the park. Activities will include a visit to the Yellowstone Heritage Museum, discussion with park officials, and a day of cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in the park.
If you do not own your own cross-country ski equipment or snowshoes, you may rent from MSU's Outdoor Recreation Program at 1401 West Lincoln Street, near the Roskie Hall parking lot. Skate skiing equipment is not recommended for this trip.
Remember to bring lots of layers; you never know what the weather in Montana is going to do!
This weekend event is limited to the first 24 students who submit the registration form below (preference is given to students who did not participate in Hike and Read). A fee of $375 will be assessed to your student account for this course. The fee covers transportation, food and lodging. Equipment rentals are not covered by the course free, but a ski lesson is provided before the weekend for those would like to participate.
