President's Excellence in Teaching Award
The purpose of this award is to recognize excellent teachers who have made exemplary contributions to instruction and student learning at Montana State University. The nominees for these awards will be evaluated on a demonstrated, sustained performance of teaching excellence.
The selection committee will evaluate nominees on the following criteria:
- Outstanding teaching. Teaching is defined to include work with students at any level and in a wide variety of settings. Teaching impact includes the ability to meet student learning objectives, a student-centered approach, and/or effective assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Evidence of superior student mentoring. Should illustrate the nominee’s concern for student development beyond the normal expectations for academic advising.
- Creative course, program, and/or curriculum development, and/or strategies used to keep students and instructor motivated and excited.
- Exemplary contributions to the teaching profession.
Eligibility. All current tenure track and non-tenure track faculty who have completed a minimum of three years of teaching at MSU-Bozeman are eligible for nomination. Not eligible are current members of the selection committee and prior recipients of the President’s Excellence in Teaching Award, Presidential Distinguished Teaching Award, or Burlington-Northern Faculty Achievement Award.
