Sustainable Enterprises Initiative
Mission and Goals
The MSU Jabs Sustainable Enterprises Initiative (SEI) educates, connects, and mobilizes faculty, students, and organizations to be stewards for the economy, environment, and society in Montana and beyond.
Our goals are to:
- Engage and promote a faculty community on sustainable enterprise topics, including society and the natural environment, to support scholarship and teaching.
- Disseminate insights from interdisciplinary scholarship related to sustainability in businesses and organizations, and foster engagement among MSU stakeholders and Montana community members, and worldwide, on critical environmental and social topics.
- Educate students and MSU stakeholders to transform businesses and organizations to become stewards for the economy, environment, and society, such as through B Corp certification among other pathways.
Activities
To accomplish these goals, the SEI brings together faculty members from all disciplines with diverse MSU and community and global stakeholders. We encourage Jabs faculty and students to address environmental and social sustainability in undergraduate and graduate classrooms, through the lenses of experiential learning and systems thinking. And we host academic and outreach events, in-person and online, to support social and environmental stewardship in Montana, the greater Rocky Mountain region, and beyond.
