Carina

Dr. Carina N. Beck 

 

Carina Beck serves in the role of Vice Provost and Director of the Hilleman Scholars Program at Montana State University. In her role, Dr. Beck is responsible for several offices and programs that work toward a common goal of creating transformational learning, development, and engagement opportunities for MSU students.

Beck oversees the MSU Hilleman Scholars Program, a scholarship and leadership program for Montana Pell-eligible students. In addition to personalized student success support, the program serves as a living laboratory to research and develop innovative practices that promote better outcomes for all students who attend Montana State University. Through its innovative curriculum program design, and partnerships with individuals and programs across Montana, the MSU Hilleman Scholars Program is well situated to produce Montana’s future leaders.

In addition, Beck oversees the Allen Yarnell Center for Student Success, which is comprised of the following offices: Career, Internship & Student Employment Services; Office of Student Success; Office of Financial Education; Office of Return-to-Learn; Bobcat Mentoring; Montana’s Own Scholarship Program; and Faculty Early Alert Program. In support of the public land grant mission of MSU, the offices and services are designed to collaborate to advance the institution’s strategic plan, Choosing Promise.

During her time at MSU, Beck also helped establish other MSU offices including Blackstone Launch Pad, MSU Leadership Institute (co-founded with Jim McCray) and re-established the U.S. Department of Education TRIO SSS program.

Along with her husband, Lawrence, Carina has called Montana home for over 30 years. They share two boys – Lawrence & AJ - and love for the Montana seasons and outdoors.

Missy Grinnell, M.Ed 

 

Missy serves as the Program Manager for the Morrill Scholars on the Allen Yarnell Center of Student Success team. The program fosters purpose and belonging for our scholars through high impact engagement, personal connection and collaborative support. Missy’s unique background as a certified life coach, ordained pastor, and nationally certified interpreter for the Deaf provide valuable experience and a passionate perspective to see others advance into their potential. The combination of these roles has cultivated a dynamic drive to lead with the power of team, to stay curious and open to others and their unique gifts, to cultivate community through compassion and respect and to foster a sense of purpose and belonging in others. Missy obtained a B.A. in Communications and an M.Ed. in Adult and Higher Education, both from MSU, and bleeds blue and gold.

Ashley 

 

Ashley is a nursing major at Montana State University with an appreciation forcommunity and connection. Originally from Southern California, she loves exploringlocal coffee shops, thrifting, and enjoying live jazz. A lifelong music lover, she plays theclarinet and is a member of MSU’s Spirit of the West Marching Band for two years! Sheis passionate about fostering meaningful relationships and creating a sense ofbelonging wherever she goes.

Ethan

Ethan Richardson

 

Ethan is a third-year student studying English Education. He has been with the Morrill Programsince 2023 and a mentor at the university since 2022. He is an active member on campus whether it be playing intramural volleyball or studying in the library. In his off time you can find him playing trivia at Colombo’s, backpacking through the mountains, cheering on the Seahawks and Bobcats or shredding powder at the top of Bridger Bowl.

Holly is a transfer student from Columbia Basin College, located in Tri-CitiesWashington. She is pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree and hopeful to graduatewith her bachelors within the next two and a half years. She enjoys being active, seeingas she invested eight years as a national level roller skater, and in her down time, shecan be found reading her latest favorite book or enjoying the great outdoors. Holly lovesto connect with others and offer a helping hand wherever she is needed.
