Digital Accessibility Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What content do I need to make accessible first?
Digital content including courses, websites, documents and images that will be active after April 2027 are the top priority.
What is "active" content versus "archived" content.
“Active” courses are those being offered or directly referenced.
Any courses that closed before April 2027 will be considered “archived” content unless accessible versions are requested. When requested, archived courses become active courses.
How "accessible" does my content need to be?
Faculty and staff need to be shooting for 100% accessibility available active digital materials according to the built-in accessibility scanners, like Yuja. If there are specific roadblocks, difficulties, or questions, communicate those to Department Heads, unit leaders or the Digital Accessibility Committee so we can pull together these needs and decide where more resources and support are needed.
What if I am using a blueprint course or I teach a course with multiple sections?
Each instructor of record is responsible for their courses. If there are blueprint courses or multiple sections that could be fixed at a higher level, the instructor will need to contact that blueprint owner and work to make the content accessible.
Can we have in-person training for our department or unit?
Departments and units may request in-person training. Email the Center for Faculty Excellence or Compliance. Members of the Digital Accessibility Committee can provide about 20-30 minutes of a presentation followed by a question-and-answer session.
