University Studies Scholarship Information
University Studies offers one-year competitive scholarships for both new and continuing students. Award funds are divided equally between Fall and Spring semesters and are applied directly to the student's MSU account. Application is made online.
Freshman Scholarship - The deadline for applications is at or near the beginning of June each year for students entering MSU the following Fall.
Athena and Merit - The deadline for application is in mid July.
Freshman Scholarship
The Freshman Scholarship is for newly-admitted MSU students who are enrolling in University Studies. Multiple scholarships of up to $2000 each are offered every year. Scholarships are competitive, and selection is based on a combination of academic performance, leadership, and service while in high school.
Applicants must have
- a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and
- an ACT composite score of 26 or a total SAT score of 1200 on the Critical Reading and Math sections.
Award funds are distributed over Fall and Spring semesters for one year.
Merit Scholarship
University Studies offers multiple scholarships of up to $2500 for continuing University Studies students who have attained high scholastic achievement.
Applicants must
- have completed two semesters of study at MSU,
- have successfully completed 27 MSU credits over the past two semesters,
- be enrolled in University Studies, and
- have a grade point average of at least 3.5 over at least two semesters at the time of application.
Award funds are distributed over Fall and Spring semesters for one year.
Athena Scholarship
The Athena Scholarship is an award designed to recognize outstanding University Studies female students. Applicants are selected based on their scholastic achievements, community involvement and goals for the future. University Studies offers multiple Athena Scholarships of up to $2500 for continuing University Studies students.
Applicants must
- have completed two semesters of study at MSU,
- have successfully completed 24 MSU credits over the past two semesters,
- have been enrolled in University Studies, Pre-US, Pre-Med Intake or COEX for at least one semester OR have been a Peer Leader or Orientation Leader for US
- preferrably demonstrated ability to overcome adversity and
- have a grade point average of at least 3.5.
