John Doyle  is a member of the Apsáalooke (Crow) Nation in Montana.  He was born, raised, and has always lived on the Crow Reservation where he has worked on local water and health issues for about 35 years.  He has served

in many capacities to improve access to safe water and to improve the water conditions on the Crow Reservation, including as the county commissioner for Big Horn County and member of the Board of Health for 24 years.  He co-founded the Tribe’s Water and Wastewater Authority and served as its Director for more than 15 years.  He also co-founded the Crow Environmental Health Steering Committee, which he served on for over ten years.

He has been the principal investigator (PI) for many research and health projects funded by NSF and NIH to understand and address poor water quality on the Crow Reservation. He currently works as the PI for several such projects at Little Big Horn College in Crow Agency, Montana and servesas the Chair and Director of the Apsáalooke Water and Waste Water Authority.  Doyle is actively involved in the Rising Voices: Collaborative Science with Indigenous Knowledge for Climate Solutions program and other national Tribal environmental health initiatives.
