04-03-2020 Ecology: New Faculty Hire Lab, Office, Graduate Student Office
Description of Request
Submitted By: Diane Debinksi, Department of Ecology
The Ecology Dept. has been approved to search for a new faculty member in Plant Physiological Ecology. This new faculty member will need a wet lab in AJMJ as well as an office. We previously identified Room 215 as a potential office space, but there are no free lab spaces available for them to use. All lab spaces associated with Ecology are currently being used, and many labs are already used by more than one faculty member in Ecology. However, several faculty members have offered to accommodate this request by proposing the following: Scott Creel in Ecology agreed to relinquish the spaces noted above as he has shifting research priorities and needs a different kind of space. Therefore, Mike Neeley in Sociology & Anthropology has agreed to vacate lab space in Lewis 409B (446 sf) to Scott Creel, once existing samples are moved to Wilson and to MSU-Billings, and provided that he can maintain use of the storage lockers within the space for a few months. The VPREDGE will provide some funding and assistance to moving samples and equipment related to these moves.
Resolution
Date: April 3rd, 2020
Space Management Committee unanimously approved the allocation of the lab in AJM 003 (758 sf), and adjacent graduate student office space in room 003A (758 sf) to Danielle Ulrich, as well the subsequent allocation of Lewis Hall 409B to Scott Creel as a result. Danielle Ulrich was previously allocated a faculty office in AJM 215.
