UC citizen or permanent resident
Masters or PhD
Can apply as a senior undergrad, 1st or 2nd year PhD or master’s student
Generally ineligible if student already has a master’s degree
The NSF GRFP funds research in the following disciplines:
- Chemistry
- CS/ Information Science
- Engineering
- Geosciences
- Life Sciences
- Materials
- Mathematics
- Physics and Astronomy
- Psychology
- Social Sciences
- STEM Education
3 Years of funding including stipend ($37,000 per year) and educational allowance to cover tuition, fees, conferences, supplies etc. ($16,000 per year)
Mid-October
Easy — 5 pages (2-page research statement, 3-page personal statement) 2-3 letters of recommendation
Once as undergraduate
Once as graduate student (1st or 2nd year)
