Academic Advising Award: Todd Kaiser, Founders Day Faculty Awards, Academic Year 2024-25. Portrait of Todd Kaiser.

Todd Kaiser

Todd Kaiser, head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering, is the recipient of this year’s Academic Advising Award. The award honors an individual who has made significant contributions to academic advising. It is sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs and comes with a $2,000 honorarium.

For 25 years, Kaiser has guided MSU students toward both graduation and productive careers through exceptional advising, according to Brock LaMeres, professor of electrical and computer engineering, in his nomination letter.

“He has also gone beyond traditional advising by designing curriculum threads that provide our students with pathways through their degrees based on their personal interests and career objectives,” LaMeres wrote. “He has consistently brought empathy and care to the advising process and will leave a lasting positive impact on the academic advising process at MSU.”

Kaiser’s commitment to student-centered advising plans has made him “the department’s go-to adviser,” LaMeres wrote.
