Approved - Discussion: Terms of Diversity Council members
Members completing their terms in May 2022:
Alison Harmon, Bridget Kevane, Kyla Bush, Bradford Watson, Katie Delker, Juliana Rajamohan, Michael Lee. Thank you for your service!
Members continuing into next academic year:
Barbara do Amaral, Nika Stoop, Brennan Reeves, Kristin Blackler
- Discussion: Priorities for next academic year
- Providing visual data so people can quickly see where we’re making progress
- Partner with ASMSU’s Diversity Council to communicate student needs and issues
- Use ad hoc committees more to address specific short-term actions
- Foster larger campus-wide conversations to send the message that MSU is inclusive and values diversity, possibly through campus-wide dialogues
- Highlighting investments made in diversity efforts
- Continue to replicate and amplify the good work being done across the university
- “Credentializing” and incentivizing diversity trainings and involvement
- Review issues of annual review and promotion/tenure – how is DEI part of the expectation of being a good faculty or staff member? How are we recognizing and rewarding this work since it is crucial to student success?
- Look at opportunities to embed DEI in existing programs – ie. Leadership MSU having a session focused on DEI
- Addressing issue of diversifying student recruitment and enrollment – what is Diversity Council’s role in these conversations?
- Strategic diversity planning and updating the DEI Framework
- Conducting the campus climate survey in spring 2023
- Tracking diversity metrics – compiling and reporting out
- Connecting departmental diversity self-studies to Diversity Council
- Public Comment
