Dear Bobcat Parent and Family Members,

Our challenges with the Fitness Center are evolving, but campus life moves forward, and there are other topics I want to talk about with you. If you missed our Parent Webinar on Moving Off-Campus, you can access the recorded version later next week to better understand local resources and how you can support your student through this next step into adulthood.

And, as I've mentioned in previous messages, the new off-campus living resource fair coming up after spring break will bring together university services, local landlords, property managers and the City of Bozeman for students to learn more about moving off-campus. Please encourage your student to attend the resource fair on Tuesday, March 26th from 4-8:00 p.m. in the SUB Ballrooms.

Also, during spring break, you might urge your student to write or revise their resume? and begin applying for summer jobs. With less than two months before the semester ends, it helps to get a jump on summer employment opportunities. Does your student need help writing or revising that r?sum?? They can set up a career coaching appointment over break by calling the Allen Yarnell Center for Student Success at (406) 994-7627.

Given that our campus fitness center will be closed for the foreseeable future, we have received a number of inquiries about other workout facility options for students. We are exploring as many options as possible, including using alternative campus facilities as temporary workout spaces. We plan to have a variety of options available for students when they return after spring break. We have also completed an evaluation of the snow load risk on all campus buildings, and we are happy to report there are no structural concerns for any buildings outside of the fitness center complex.

This past week, most of our for-credit fitness and activity classes took place at alternative locations. After spring break, we will announce a plan for the management of these activities for the remainder of the academic year. Your student can stay updated through the Fitness Center website on what, when and where we're finding ways to keep our programs going this spring.

If your student is coming home for the break, enjoy your time together and safe travels to those who are vacationing!

Sincerely,

Matthew R. Caires
