Tips for Keeping your Mouth Healthy during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Some Quick Tips and Tricks from MSU’s
Student Health Partners Dental Clinic:
Please don’t distance yourself from your brush and floss.
They need you right now! A healthy mouth helps to maintain
a healthy immune system.
- Brush your teeth twice each day for 2 minutes and floss daily. Wash your hands before
and after flossing your teeth. Ideally, brush in the morning after breakfast and then
floss and brush at night before bed. We all have a little extra time on our hands
right now so take a look at these instructional videos:
- Brushing – Brushing video
- Flossing – Flossing video
- Avoid excessive snacking which can cause an acidic environment in your mouth and lead to tooth decay. Try to focus on nutritious, well-balanced meals.
- Drink lots of water-just plain tap water. Try to aim for half of your body weight in ounces each day for proper hydration. Swish vigorously with water after a meal or snack to neutralize plaque acids and self-cleanse when you are unable to brush and floss.
We miss seeing you at the clinic and look forward to
being there for your dental needs when this time has passed.
