Course Description:
This course focuses on the treatment and management of mental health problems with consideration to the assessment, diagnoses, and comorbid conditions of individuals across the lifespan. This course combines treatment modalities including individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, brief psychotherapy, and medication management while integrating multicultural skills for health promotion, clinical prevention, and managemnt of mental health problems. Additional focus and consideration are placed on the management of the pediatric and geriatric population.
Catalog Description:
This course focuses on the treatment and management of mental health problems utilizing individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, brief psychotherapy, and medication management. Additional focus and consideration are placed on the management of the pediatric and geriatric population.
Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completing this course, the student will be able to:
- Evaluate individual and group psychotherapy.
- Develop an age-appropriate assessment and treatment plan.
- Evaluate and demonstrate age-appropriate therapeutic treatment plans focusing on pediatric and geriatric populations.
