Course Title: NRSG 504 Assessment and Evaluation of Education

Course Description:

This course engages students in discussions related to design, assessment, and evaluation of instruction by nurses. Topics include writing instructional objectives and constructing assessment activities to assess proposed student learning outcomes. Students complete a project to gain skills in evaluating student learning related to a specific unit of study.

This course engages students in discussions related to design, assessment, and evaluation of instruction by nurses in academic or clinical settings. Students complete a project to gain skills in evaluating student learning.

 

Course Objectives:

  1. Formulate student learning outcomes for a specific unit of study.
  2. Develop a variety of assessment strategies to evaluate student performance toward the accomplishment of specific course outcomes.
  3. Use the evaluation process as a strategy to align assessment activities with instructional
  4. Adapt assessments to accommodate for diverse groups of learners.
  5. Design a detailed and comprehensive learning plan that is aligned with course objectives and course assessment activities. 

 

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completing this course the student will be able to:

  1. Design an exam-based learner assessment using varied item formats with a focus on critical thinking.
  1. Develop a grading rubric.
