Course Title: Nursing Simulation
Credits: 1-2 credits, course will be repeated for a maximum of 4 credits
Semesters Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer
Course Description:
This course brings together learning and nursing theory in a simulation- based environment. It includes the application of nursing principles, concepts and related skills for care of a variety of patient populations and their families. The clinical decision making process will be utilized in the provision of nursing care in simulation scenarios.

This course integrates clinical learning and nursing theory in a simulation-based environment. It includes the application of nursing principles, concepts, related skills, and clinical decision making specific to the scheduled patient populations each semester.
Course Objectives:
- Utilize clinical decision making through the nursing process for a variety of clients.
- Incorporate concepts of health promotion, cultural sensitivity, safety, and advocacy in the provision of care across the lifespan.
- Demonstrate accurate written and verbal communication with team members and clients.
- Integrate teaching-learning principles in the care process.
- Demonstrate utilization of information technology.
- Demonstrate clinical judgement in an evolving patient situation.
- Establish a therapeutic nurse/patient relationship.
- Demonstrate accountability for care delivery.
Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completing this course the student will be able to:
- Communicate effectively during simulation with team members.
- Identify problems that arise in the simulation environment through use of critical thinking and clinical judgement skills.
- Intervene therapeutically when communicating and delivering nursing care to patients in the simulation environment.
- Demonstrate safe nursing care.
