Professor Wayne Stein
Wayne J. Stein is Professor of Native American Studies & Higher Education Studies at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. He works closely with the seven tribal colleges (TCU) of Montana and several others around the country. He has also consulted with several tribes interested in starting their own TCU. His scholarship has focused primarily on TCU’s, but he has done some research and writing in the areas of Indian gaming and faculty of color in higher education. He is author or co-author of three books, including The Renaissance of American Indian Higher Education: Capturing the Dream (2002). He formerly served as President of Sitting Bull College and Vice-President of Academic Affairs at Ft. Berthold Community College. Dr. Stein’s tribal affiliation is Turtle Mountain Chippewa.
