Course Description

Course co-convenes with NASX 471

This course will provide instruction and practice in planning for, researching, and preparing grant proposals for a range of funders. Students will also participate in a mock grant review process and finish the course with a grant proposal template from which to develop future grant proposals on their own. Focus is on programmatic grant funding proposals (much like those supported by private and corporate foundations, local and state government funders, and federal government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Justice, Indian Health Service, Corporation for National and Community Service, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (programmatic focused offices such as the Administration for Children and Families, which includes the Administration for Native Americans), U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. This course does not focus on Research project grants (such as U.S. National Institutes of Health R01, R03, and R21 grants).

Instructor

Dr. Tonya Robinson

Tonya Robinson, PhD. Her research concerns intersections of cultural production and environmental degradation, as well as historic and contemporary issues impacting Indian Country. She is currently working on issues concerning national metanarratives and mythmaking. She also has more than 20 years’ professional experience in the grant world.
