Early this winter, two staff members and four Hilleman Scholars embarked on a two-day
recruitment road trip in Northern Montana for the MSU Hilleman Scholars Program. Our
team visited nine schools, including Glacier High School, Polson High School, Hellgate
High School, Big Sky High School, Sentinel High School, Darby High School, Hamilton High School, Corvallis
High School, and Victor High School.
Our Hilleman representatives spoke with 37 Montana High School seniors, sharing details
about the leadership and scholarship opportunities provided at MSU through the Hilleman
Scholars Program. The group talked to students about the benefits of attending Montana
State right after High School, answering questions about the fears and hesitations
the high schoolers may be feeling. Our scholars were able to speak on their individual
experiences, growth, and support systems provided at MSU through the Hilleman Scholars Program, “It’s so much more than a scholarship,
it’s a community”. Additionally, our team had the opportunity to talk with guidance
counselors about the scholarship, giving them materials to continue to promote the
program within their schools for future students.
