In 1986 the town of Belt selected between three sub options as part of the voter review process. Having partisan elections (46 votes) or having Nonpartisan elections (218) votes. Having the Mayor appoint the department heads with the majority approval of the council (57 votes) or having the mayor appoint all employees with the majority approval of the council (210 votes). Either electing the treasurer (122 votes) or appointing the treasurer (155 votes).
