Outcomes in Canvas help instructors and administrators measure student achievement of learning objectives and academic standards. Outcomes can be imported from institution-level accounts or other supported standards frameworks and then aligned with course activities for assessment.

At Montana State University: When outcomes are connected to assignments through rubrics, assessment data can be collected and analyzed using Insights for Canvas Outcomes. This allows departments and programs to review student learning results and support ongoing assessment efforts.

At the course level, instructors can use the Learning Mastery Gradebook to review student outcome results, including outcome scores and mastery indicators. To learn how to interpret the scores, icons, and indicators displayed in the Learning Mastery Gradebook, review our tutorial: Understanding the Learning Mastery Gradebook.
