Día de los Muertos Altar & Interactive Display
October 27th-November 2nd
SUB Hallway/SUB 221

The Day of the Dead, el Día de los Muertos, is a time to honor and remember those who have departed.  It is believed that at this time of year the border between the spirit world and the real world dissolves.  The souls of the dead can return to join their living family members in dancing, eating, drinking and music.

Learn about the traditional ofrenda by visiting the display case (outside of the Exit Gallery).  Featuring foods, flowers and other symbols to remember the dead and invite them back during this time of the year.

Stop by the table to decorate your flower and add your voice and experience to the display:

  • How do you celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month?
  • What does celebramos juntos, celebrating together, look like in your culture?

Drop the flower in the box and it may be included on the window.

On November 1st starting at 11:00am, exchange your paper flower for a flower in recognition of your celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
