Dear Students, Faculty and Staff, On Aug. 23, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration gave final, full approval to the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. "The FDA's approval of this vaccine is a milestone as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. While this and other vaccines have met the FDA's rigorous, scientific standards for emergency use authorization, as the first FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccine, the public can be very confident that this vaccine meets the high standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality the FDA requires of an approved product," said acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock, M.D. "While millions of people have already safely received COVID-19 vaccines, we recognize that for some, the FDA approval of a vaccine may now instill additional confidence to get vaccinated. Today's milestone puts us one step closer to altering the course of this pandemic in the U.S." We are pleased to announce that on Friday, Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., we will have a mobile vaccine clinic on the Malone Centennial Mall by Montana Hall for students, faculty and staff that will offer the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Free vaccines will be available by walk-up, or you can make an appointment at https://www.mtreadyclinic.org//appointment/en/reg/1012847569. The mobile clinic will return three weeks later, on Friday, October 1, to administer the second dose. Once vaccinated, students can enter MSU's vaccination sweepstakes for a chance to win a $5,000 financial assistance award, a season ski pass, a $500 airline voucher, and other merchandise up to $500 in value. You can register here at: https://www.montana.edu/health/coronavirus/health-safety/vaccinations/win/. We hope you take advantage of this easy to access clinic of the first, fully-approved COVID-19 vaccine! Sincerely, |
