Dear Bobcat parent and family members,

With the close of Spring Break, it's hard to believe we're officially in the second half of the Spring Semester. No matter what your student was up to for the break, I hope they are rested and ready for the next push into the academic term. I spent most of the week goofing off with my kids (now 4 and 6 years old) and skiing several days under bluebird skies. We enjoyed the warm weather, but the snow is melting fast.

While some of us were goofing off during the break, our Bobcat men's basketball team was hard at work earning a historic third straight Big Sky Conference title and trip to the NCAA tournament. We are so proud of the team and their competitive spirit! Congratulations to our student-athletes, and further congratulations to head coach Matt Logie and his assistant coaches on the Big Sky Conference Championship win in their first year at MSU.

It is time to turn our attention to summer and fall registration, which is almost upon us. Priority registration begins March 25 and follows the Summer/Fall timetable available on the Office of the Registrar's website. All current students may take advantage of priority registration, allowing them to select courses before new or transfer students may register.

Your student is more likely to get the courses they need and the schedule they want by registering as soon as they are eligible. We aim to have all returning students registered for the summer or fall by April 15, when open, non-priority registration begins.

Students will need to meet with their academic adviser before they can register. If they don't already know who their adviser is, they can find that information in their MyInfo account. If they are considering a change of major or have other questions, the Academic Advising Center in Gaines Hall can help, or your student can call them at 406-994-3532.

To further assist students in finding the support they need at this time of year, the university is hosting a spring Student Resource Fair, March 27, outdoors on the Malone Centennial Mall. Participating programs and offices will include Housing, Student Wellness, Disability Services, Financial Aid, Advising Commons and more. Our goal for the fair is to reach students with the resources needed for their personal growth and academic success.

Finally, with the rate the semester is going by, you may already be making family summer plans. If your student is flying home, please remind them to find out the specific timing of each of their final exams before buying airline tickets. The final week of the semester is instructional time, and professors will not reschedule exams for a student to catch a flight home. A complete schedule for the final week of the semester can be found on the registrar's office website, so please encourage your student to take a look before planning their travel.

Wishing you a happy start to spring,
