Philosophy
At Campus Civil Rights, we believe that experiences like discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence are preventable. Through a combination of research based primary prevention and risk reduction strategies, CCR works to eliminate these issues from campus and create a culture of respect and dignity for all.
In order to accomplish this dream, it requires all students and employees to own their role in preventing discrimination, harassment, and violence. The onus of prevention does not fall on the shoulders of one person or one department; we all have a role to play in preventing harm and creating a better tomorrow.
Modality & Topics
CCR addresses these concerns through a variety of modalities including workshops, individualized presentations, passive programming, events, and so much more! We partner with many offices and departments to create a collaborative culture that addresses concerns.
Violence prevention is a very broad field, and our content is designed to match the needs of our campus community. Topics includes (but are not limited to):
- Resources
- Anti-Discrimination, Anti-Harassment
- Creating a Culture of Respect
- Bystander Intervention
- Consent
- Healthy, Unhealthy, Abusive Relationships
- Trauma Informed Support
- Positive Team Dynamics
It is important to note that CCR does not offer “cookie cutter” presentations. This means we recognize that although many offices, organizations, and departments might request the same topic, their needs, culture, and skills are not the same. Therefore, before offering any presentation, individuals need to collaborate with Campus Civil Rights to ensure the presentation meets the unique needs of the group.
