Don't know what the Bobcat Student Employment page looks like or what it is?

It is a place where students can go to find jobs on campus that are not posted on Hire-A-Bobcat. This page was made for those employers that don't want to use Hire-A-Bobcat.

How do we post a job?

1. Have a dedicated website for hiring? We will put the link to your job application site on the website to help promote your open positions. An example is to look at our website to see how culinary is posted. 

2. Just want to post your job? Email us the following details:  

  • Job Title 
  • Position Description 
  • Pay rate 
  • Contact information 
  • How to apply

We keep getting applications but the position is already filled

For our website we request that you let us know when positions are filled that way we can remove them and you don't keep getting applications. It also helps the students that way they do not apply to jobs that are already filled.

Step 2: Create job or internship or research posting

Step 3: Review applicants 

Step 4: Make your Hire 

Step 5: Close the posting once filled

Helpful Tips for posting on Hire-A-Bobcat: 

Looking for Work-Study Eligible Students? 
- Do not check the “Work Study” box when creating your posting. 
Students can only see “Work Study” roles if they’ve confirmed eligibility with Financial Aid — and most don’t know their status yet. 

Posting a Research Position? 
- Be sure to select the “On-Campus Research” category to help students find your posting in targeted searches.

What is work study?

Work study is a federally funded program that helps MSU students earn money through part time jobs. Students must qualify through FAFSA, and wages are partially subsidized by federal funds. 

Why should employers take advantage of work study?

Lower payroll costs as the federal funds cover a portion of the student wages, allowing you to stretch your budgest and hire more help. It SAVES your department money!
