Pre-Professional Advising Programs
Interested in Law, Medicine/Health, or Veterinary Medicine?
Montana State University offers advising tracks in pre-law, pre-medicine, pre-health, and pre-veterinary medicine. These programs are not majors, which allows students interested in furthering their education the opportunity to pursue an undergraduate degree they are passionate about. Our advisors in each program make sure students are prepared to make the next step in their careers.

About Pre-Law
- The Pre-Law program at MSU encourages students to explore and prepare for academic majors that translate to admission into law school.
- Students form a foundation of understanding to prepare for a future in law school.
- Advisors assist with all aspects of the application processs including school selection, application submission timing, LSAT prep schedules, and personal statements.
- Pre-Law students at MSU go into careers such as:
- Lawyer
- Paralegal
- Judge
- Mediator
- Litigation Support
About Pre-Veterinary Medicine
- Montana State Pre-Vet students are academically very well qualified and sought after among regional veterinary schools.
- The 400-acre Bozeman Area Research & Teaching (BART) Farm is less than one mile from campus.
- Through collaborations with other instituitions students have the opportunity to seamlessly continue their veterinary program. This includes the WIMU Regional Program and WICHE Program.

About Pre-Medicine/Health
- For students who are interested in preparing for a career in the medical field, the pre-med intake program at MSU allows for exploration and preparation in academic majors that will lead to the health care sector.
- Montana State's medical school acceptance rate is 20% higher than the national average.
- During the fall semester evening workshops are offered on a monthly basis and cover topics such as the ‘nuts and bolts’ of university academics, professionalism for the health professions, and an overview of the expectations and process of applying to health professional school.
- In spring semester, students are encouraged to participate in the seminar course “Introduction to Medicine and Health Care” for a formal representation of the academic opportunities available at MSU and an introduction to the breadth of opportunity in the health professions. This course, in combination with nearly two semesters of individual experience, will provide the foundation on which students choose a major from which to graduate.
